Traxxas TRX4 Defender Review – Where Traxxas Fans And Crawler Fans Unite!

If you can’t tell already, we here at Ripit RC are huge fans of all things RC, especially when it comes to Traxxas. We have found time and time again that Traxxas continues to deliver a high quality product that’s extremely durable, easy to use and of course FUN for RC drivers of all levels. That’s why when we opened our store we chose to sell exclusively Traxxas vehicles, because we knew our customers would get the most bang for their buck and spend more time having fun with their RC vehicle. The only problem was we knew we wouldn’t be able to appeal to the RC Crawler crowd because Traxxas wasn’t manufacturing any RC Crawlers. Then we got the news… Traxxas announced the release of the Traxxas TRX4 Defender! Traxxas had finally built an RC Crawler, and of course they did it the “Traxxas way”… going all out, with no detail left behind. This is where Traxxas fans and Crawler fans unite! We’ve been driving our demo vehicle for a bit and wanted to let you know some of our favorite features in this Traxxas TRX4 Defender Review!

Crawl To The Top

In our Traxxas TRX4 Defender Review we want to take a look at some its insanely awesome and notable features. The ground clearance on this vehicle is enormous. Even more insane is that this super ground clearance is not achieved by simply putting larger tires on. Instead, the Traxxas TRX4 Defender has introduced game-changing portal axles. These portal axles actually lift the vehicle up at the wheels. To achieve this height, you would need larger, bulkier tires of at least an inch bigger. Thus, making it harder to maneuver around and over boulders. This innovation allows the TRX4 Defender to hug boulders with ease.

Two Is Better Than One

The Traxxas TRX4 Defender is equipped with two gears: Low (1st) and High (2nd). I’ll admit that I was a little weary of two-speed RC’s in the past, but I’m happy to say that Traxxas has sold me on this. The Low Gear has a 65/1 ratio which gives you a ton of control when crawling. Once you’ve crawled over your obstacle, simply flip the switch on your receiver to High Gear (25/1 ratio) and speed off. Essentially turning your Traxxas TRX4 Defender into a Basher with the flip of a switch! Another great feature is the locking and unlocking discs. If you tip over, simply flip the disc locking switch on your receiver and with a little magic you can get flipped up right!

Overall we are super impressed with just how fun the Traxxas TRX4 Defender has been to ride. It really takes you into the world of RC crawling with ease, style (based on the Land Rover Defender) and array of awesome features that allow you to really control the vehicle. We highly recommend this vehicle to anyone looking to get into RC crawling or anyone that is already crawling and wants to add a really cool crawler to their artillery. Can’t wait to see what’s next from Traxxas in the RC Crawler market!

We hope you enjoyed our Traxxas TRX4 Defender review, we are currently stocking up on the TRX4 and hope to have it up for sale any day now! Keep your eyes and ears open. The TRX4 Defender will be available on our Drive Now Pay Later program for payments as low as $25/month!
